The Fall of the House of Usher & The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar

First album in the Illustrated Classics collection published by Minotauro and dedicated to the literary universe of Edgar Allan Poe. The edition brings together the short stories The Fall of the House of Usher and The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar, considered two of the most representative texts of American Gothic literature.

For this project, Ismael Pinteño created forty original illustrations developed using graphite, watercolor, and ink, also incorporating experimental techniques and mediums. Through chiaroscuro, dense atmospheres, and a deeply narrative approach, the images engage in a dialogue with the psychological and symbolic dimension of Poe’s work, expanding his visual imaginary from a contemporary perspective.
